Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
The novel is difficult to get into which kept it from getting a five star rating, but if you keep reading you will not regret it. The plot itself is very unique and really captures your attention.
This book is based in a future society where the whole world is in ruins. Every decision made up until the year 2044 slowly proceeded the destruction the destruction of earth. Due to earth’s failing communities every person is left jobless, carless, and practically homeless. The only escape from this poverty ridden world is the OASIS. OASIS is the world’s most realistic virtual reality game and most every person on earth hides away from their life's problems in the game. After the death of the games creator, James Halliday, it is revealed that Halliday hid an Easter Egg somewhere in the OASIS and whoever finds it gets to inherit his fortune. A teenager, Wade Watts is one of the many people out to find this hidden Easter Egg. Along the way Wade meets some new friends who work together to find the Egg before an internet corporation (the IOI) does and uses the money to monetize the OASIS.
Any person that is a fan of Science Fiction would probably be interested in reading this novel. Maybe even some gamers would enjoy this rendition of classic Science Fiction, Dystopian and Utopian books. I would definitely recommend this book to my fellow geeks out there because of how well put together this piece of literature truly is.
